About Cavoodles

A Little About Cavoodles Cavoodles are an extraordinary breed known for their gentle and devoted nature. Originating in the 1990s, the conception of this beloved breed aimed to combine the best qualities of the Purebred Cavalier King Charles and Miniature or Toy Poodle, with a focus on minimizing genetic diseases commonly found in purebred dogs today. This intentional crossbreeding has resulted in healthier, more sociable dogs with coats that shed minimally or not at all. They are a delightful hybrid breed that combines the affectionate and gentle nature of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the intelligence and hypoallergenic coat of the Poodle.
Each contributing breed brings its own distinctive traits to the development of the modern-day Oodle. At Loveable Oodles, our mission has always been to breed Oodles that are not only healthy and charismatic but also free from most diseases, thereby safeguarding the well-being of our future generations. Frequently, we're asked about the differences between Cavoodle generations. Here are some quick facts to consider Temperament: Cavoodles are renowned for their sweet, loving, and loyal temperament. They are known to be excellent family pets, getting along well with children, other pets, and even strangers. Intelligence: With the Poodle lineage, Cavoodles inherit high intelligence and are quick learners. This makes them relatively easy to train, especially when positive reinforcement techniques are used. Coat: One of the most attractive features of Cavoodles is their coat, which can vary depending on the genetics inherited from their Poodle parent. They often have soft, curly or wavy fur that is low-shedding, making them suitable for individuals with allergies. Size: Cavoodles come in different sizes, depending on whether the Poodle parent was a Toy, Miniature, or Standard Poodle. Typically, they range from small to medium-sized dogs, weighing between 10 to 25 pounds (4.5 to 11 kg). Our Cavoodles typically weigh from 4-7 kg. Activity Level: While they enjoy playtime and outdoor activities, Cavoodles are not overly energetic dogs. They are adaptable to various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive regular exercise and mental stimulation. Health: Like all dog breeds, Cavoodles may be prone to certain health issues inherited from their parent breeds. However, responsible breeding practices aimed at minimizing genetic diseases have helped to improve the overall health of the breed. Lifespan: On average, Cavoodles have a lifespan of about 10 to 15 years, although this can vary depending on factors such as genetics, diet, and exercise. Cavoodles
1st generation (F1) Cavoodle - Parent 1 Poodle x Parent 2 Cavalier King Charles This is a cross between a Purebred King Charles Cavalier and either a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Crossing the two different breeds who inherit different genetical backgrounds is the key to minimizing recessive genetic disorders. F1b generation Cavoodle Parent 1 Cavoodle (Any Generation) x Parent 2 Pure Cavalier King Charles or Toy Poodle 2nd generation (F2) Cavoodle - Parent 1 1st Generation Cavoodle x Parent 2 Cavoodle A cross between the offspring's of 1st generation litters, both parents being 1st generation Cavoodles. 3rd Generation (F3) - Parent 1 2nd Generation Cavoodle x Parent 2 F2 or above. There needs to be at least 2 generations of Cavoodle breeding behind both parents for a puppy to be classed as F3 Overall, Cavoodles make wonderful companions for individuals and families alike, bringing joy, love, and companionship into their homes.
