About Spoodles

A Little About Spoodles Spoodles, also known as Cockapoos around variuos parts of the world, are a remarkable hybrid breed celebrated for their gentle and devoted nature. The conception of this beloved breed traces back to the deliberate crossbreeding of a Purebred Cocker Spaniel and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. This cross aimed to combine the best qualities of each parent breed while minimizing genetic diseases commonly found in purebred dogs today. The result is a breed known for its health, outgoing personality, and low to non-shedding coat. Each contributing breed brings its own unique traits to the development of the modern-day Oodle. At Loveable Oodles, our commitment has always been to breed Oodles that are healthy, charismatic, and free from most diseases, thereby ensuring the well-being of our future generations. We frequently receive inquiries about the differences between Spoodle generations. Some Quick Facts! Hybrid Breed: Spoodles are a crossbreed between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, typically a Miniature or Toy Poodle. This mix combines the intelligence and hypoallergenic coat of the Poodle with the affectionate and friendly nature of the Cocker Spaniel. Variety in Sizes: Depending on the size of the Poodle parent (Miniature or Toy), Spoodles can vary in size from small to medium. This variety allows for different options to suit various living situations and preferences. Coat: Spoodles often have soft, curly or wavy coats that can range in color from solid to multicolored. Their coat texture and shedding tendency can vary depending on the genetics inherited from their parents, but they are generally considered low to non-shedding, making them suitable for individuals with allergies. Temperament: Known for their friendly, affectionate, and outgoing nature, Spoodles make excellent family pets. They are sociable dogs that typically get along well with children, other pets, and strangers. Intelligence: With their Poodle lineage, Spoodles inherit high intelligence and are quick learners. This makes them responsive to training, especially positive reinforcement methods. Activity Level: Spoodles have moderate energy levels and enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. They require regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Health: While Spoodles are generally healthy dogs, they may inherit health issues from their parent breeds. Responsible breeding practices aim to minimize the risk of genetic diseases, but regular veterinary check-ups are still important for maintaining their well-being. Lifespan: On average, Spoodles have a lifespan of around 12 to 15 years, although this can vary depending on factors such as genetics, diet, and exercise. Spoodle 1st generation (F1) Spoodle Parent 1 Poodle x Parent 2 Cocker Spaniel This is a cross between a Purebred Cocker Spaniel and either a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Crossing the two different breeds who inherit different genetical backgrounds is the key to minimizing recessive genetic disorders. F1b generation Spoodle Parent 1 Either a Pure breed Cocker Spaniel or Toy Poodle Parent 2 Spoodle (Any Generation) 2nd generation (F2) Spoodle Parent 1 1st Generation Spoodle x Parent 2 Spoodle A cross between the offspring's of 1st generation litters, both parents being 1st generation Spoodles.

3rd Generation (F3) - Parent 1 2nd Generation Spoodle x Parent 2 F2 or above. There needs to be at least 2 generations of Spoodle breeding behind both parents for a puppy to be classed as F3
Overall, Spoodles are beloved for their loving disposition, intelligence, and suitability as family companions.
